Join the Fernelius Toyota team at Hoppies Tavern on Saturday, Feb. 16 to raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics Michigan (SOMI) athletes at one of 28 Law Enforcement Torch Run® (LETR) Polar Plunges in Michigan in 2013.
Plunge registration is scheduled to start at 11 a.m., followed by the parade of costumes at 12:30 p.m. and the Polar Plunge at 1 p.m. The post-plunge party and awards ceremony is scheduled to begin immediately following the plunge at Hoppies Tavern.
Team member, Mike Mushlock is going to be taking the plunge for Fernelius. If you would like to support our team you can donate here. http://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/Michael-Mushlock4Fernelius/cheboygan13.
This Polar Plunge is one of 28 Polar Plunges planned throughout Michigan from January through March 2013 in Alpena, Belleville, Brighton, Caro, Cheboygan, Chippewa Lake, Detroit, Edwardsburg, Fenton, Gaylord, Grand Rapids, Holland, Jackson, Kalamazoo, Lake City, Lansing, Lansing Legislative, Marquette, Monroe, Mt. Pleasant, Muskegon, Saginaw/Bay City, St. Clair, Sault Ste. Marie, Stanton, Sylvan Lake, Traverse City and University of Michigan.
The annual LETR Polar Plunge is known for its zany costume contest where plungers compete for the Golden Plunger Award. The award honors the plunger with the most creative costume or best jump into the water. All plungers receive incentives and an official 2013 Polar Plunge T-shirt. Individuals who do not want to plunge can also collect donations to receive a T-shirt that bears the “Too Chicken to Plunge” logo and are invited to attend the post-plunge party.
The Polar Plunge is made possible by the Law Enforcement Torch Run®, a group of police officers and corrections personnel committed to raising funds and awareness for SOMI. Proceeds from the Polar Plunge support the year-round sports training and athletic competition for 19,620 children and adults with intellectual disabilities who live in Michigan.
