History gives way to demolition

Sixty-six year old walls came tumbling down at a North Straits Highway business on Thursday afternoon.

Giving way to a brand-new building nearly three times its size behind it.

A crew from the Robiadek & Sons Excavating Inc. on Cheboygan began to knock down the cinder block walls at Fernelius Toyota Chrysler Dodge Jeep after 3 p.m., hoping to complete the removal of the 14,000 square foot building — built initially as a Greyhound bus station and repair shop in 1945 — over the weekend.
